Paint and Sip with purpose
On May 1, 2016 Team Shatown/Shatown Entertainment, hosted their very first Paint and Sip with a Purpose AIDS walk fundraiser. It was a day to remember! The event was held at the Living Art Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. Music for the evening was provided by Dj Mike Major, along with instructional painting provided by yours truly!
Dj Mike Major opened up with some mellow tunes such as Erykah Badu, while attendees viewed my newest collection of artwork, but then later on had us turned up!
Opening remarks by Shatown Entertainment's CEO, Go Getta, along with a poem I shared entitled, The Art of Us; set the tone for the participants of the instructional paint session. I also shared words of encouragement as they prepared to create their masterpieces. I believe that everyone is an artist in some form. There's is no right or wrong way in my book. I wanted everyone to just feel the music, let their heart's guide their brush strokes, along with the wine and refreshments.
I've done private paint sessions, but this was my largest group session. I must admit. When invited to instruct a class, I had no clue how things were going to go in regards to how well I would be as a teacher. So before I unloaded my things, I stop to pray. I asked any doubt or uncertainty that I may of been feeling be removed, and for the event to be a success as we joined together for a good cause.
Let's pause at the photo above. Can I just say, a sister girl had the nerve to get nervous while on the mic! My voice started off shaky but I had to calm that all the way down lol. Unfortunately, I still have some shy moments but hey, I'm a work in progress. Anyways...back to the event.
My class was awesome. I had a great group and they all showed up with their personality ready to go!
The gallery was filed with love, laughter, and of course music music music!
During the event co-host, Mr Sha got on the mic in addition to capturing moments on his camera for the team. There was also a silent auction. Winners walked away with some great prizes!
I could go on and on about the event but I won't. It was a, you had to be there event. Team Shatown will hit the streets May 15 in NYC for the AIDS walk 2016. Please be sure to visit their website and donate to the cause. Www.shatown.com
